John Elway signs a five-year, $29.5-million extension that assures the future Hall of Fame QB will finish his playing career with the Broncos.

“John is the ultimate player, the ultimate team player,” President/CEO Pat Bowlen says. “This contract guarantees that John will finish his career here in Denver, as he should.” Said Elway: “I’m kind of a dying breed as far as guys getting to play their entire careers in one place. But as long as I’m an asset, I want to play … At my age, it’s no longer a dollar deal. I want to get that final opportunity to compete for and win a championship.”
